Wood Badge Training

 

Wood Badge is the premier training course for all Scouters. It is an intense 6 day training experience that is second to none. It is a modern format training that delivers the latest in 12 leadership skills that will help you be the best leader possible. These are skills that will become part of your everyday life. You will use these skills at home, church and anywhere leadership is needed.

The focus of the course is on communicating, listening, diversity, team development, planning, managing conflict and change, coaching, assessing team performance and problem solving.

Course Overview
Wood Badge for the 21st Century is for all Scout leaders. It has been developed for Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, and Venturing registered adults who have met the requirements for their position to be considered “Trained”.


Learning Objectives -
As a result of attending Wood Badge, you will be able to:
1) View Scouting as a values-based program with age-appropriate activities.
2) Recognize and use relevant contemporary leadership styles in Scouting.
3) Lead and apply skills as a member of a successful working team.

4) Revitalize yours and others commitment to the Scouting movement.
5) Make a difference in Scouting and in every aspect of your life.

5) Leading to Make a Difference - Leaving a Legacy and The Greatest Leadership Secret

Course Delivery
Wood Badge for the 21st Century is a week-long course. During the first few days you will sleep in tents and have your meals provided. The remainder of the week will be more of an outdoor experience, starting off with a short backpacking hike, you will setup a more primitive campsite, sleep in tents and prepare most of your own meals. The course is interspersed with all types of indoor and outdoor activities.

Wood Badge Ticket
The primary purpose of the Wood Badge experience is to strengthen Scouting in your units, districts, and local council. The Wood Badge “ticket” represents your commitment to complete a set of (5) personal goals in relation to your Scouting position. These goals will significantly strengthen the program in which you are involved. In addition, the ticket gives you an opportunity to practice and demonstrate a working knowledge of the leadership skills presented during the course. You will be assigned a ticket counselor to guide you to the completion of your ticket. Your Wood Badge ticket should be completed no later than 18 months after the course.
